Article 25 – September, 2024

Recently I retired and moved to Drysdale with my energetic dog. I’ve always walked extensively for my own physical and psychological wellbeing, and to provide my dog with the stimulation he needs to be happy and content. We’ve greatly enjoyed walking around Drysdale/Clifton Springs/ Curlewis, slowly learning about the area and meeting some of the locals. This has really helped us to settle into our new home and neighbourhood.

I am a supporter of more foot paths for Drysdale/Clifton Springs/Curlewis because there are so many obvious and incidental benefits for residents of all age groups, just by being able to access footpaths to move around safely. Often, when I’m walking my dog, children and older residents ask if they can pat him, which is a lovely way to interact, make a difference to a person’s day, and maintain our healthy community! Regularly we walk on the road shoulder like many other residents, because the nature strips are either uneven or have long wet grass. Walking on the road shoulder is not ideal but necessary at times, so I look forward to the day when we can all go for long walks on footpaths that are connected, and further enhance this wonderful community.

A new resident

I am writing to you to express my support for the introduction of footpaths for Drysdale and Clifton Springs.

As a mother of two teenage boys who regularly catch public transport, introduction of footpaths would be such a benefit for their safety by separating vehicles and pedestrians. This would allow pedestrians to walk to bus stops with greater safety and also promoting a healthy life style by encouraging more people to walk and feel safe.

I applaud you for addressing this issue while aiming to keep our community, and our children safe through the introduction of footpaths for Drysdale and Clifton Springs.
